In his practise, Bram Kinsbergen tries to comprehend individuality and humanity in general. His work both deals with issues and subjects we think we understand, but also of matters we can’t get through and leaves us wondering. In his paintings he simultaneously creates walls and mirrors. Walls, because the story behind the image never explains itself and it’s context will never be completely revealed. Mirrors, because, as a spectator, we think we recognize ourselves in an image, like a reflection in the mirror, but it’s nothing more than hollow hope.
In a humble way Kinsbergen’s work hovers about the evolution of human individuality and nature and the question what makes us as we are.
